Chess Champs Academy and Liberty Grace Academy September Scholastic Chess Tournament — Results & Highlights
Chess Champs Academy | September 2026
We are excited to share a recap of our September Scholastic Chess Tournament, which brought together 28 young chess players for an afternoon of competitive chess, learning, and sportsmanship.
Thank you to all of the families who came out and helped make the tourna
ment such a great success. It was wonderful to see so many students challenging themselves, competing against new opponents, and demonstrating the focus and sportsmanship that make scholastic chess so special.
A New Location & New Partnership
This tournament was a particularly exciting milestone for Chess Champs Academy because it was our first tournament at our new location and our first event in partnership with Liberty Grace Academy.
We are very grateful to Liberty Grace Academy for helping make this event possible. We are excited about the opportunity to work together and build more opportunities for students and families in the San Diego chess community.

♟️ More Than Just Winning
One of the things we love most about scholastic tournaments is watching students grow throughout the experience. We have seen many players come a long way and make huge improvments from last school year.
Tournaments give young players the chance to practice skills that go beyond the chessboard: staying focused under pressure, thinking carefully before making decisions, learning from mistakes, and learning good sportsmanship.
Whether a student finished at the top of the standings or played in their very first competitive tournament, every game is an opportunity to learn and improve.
We were proud to see all 28 players competing, challenging themselves, and demonstrating great sportsmanship throughout the event.
